MLM’ers Are You Over Hyping Your Company?

by Eartha

A common trap many new network marketers (MLM'ers) get caught in is the "my company is the best!" or "these products are the best!" trap. It's easy to end up promoting the network marketing company more than you promote yourself. Why would this be a problem? Primarily this would be a problem because you want a potential prospect to sign up with you, not someone else.

Don't Over Promote Your Company

There isn't anything wrong with having a strong belief in your company and products. However, if all you do is promote those aspects, when it comes time for a prospect to make a decision, they could easily go over to the company web site and sign up there. They may be given a sponsor rather than joining your network. After all, you were the one promoting everything about the business except for what you could bring to the table.

Don't Promote the Way Everyone Else Does

Many network marketers are still in the trap of over promoting the business. You can find them all over services like Twitter and Facebook. Rather than offering anything of value, it's just "click here" for the latest and greatest product.

How to Attract More Prospects

A good way to attract new prospects is by being genuine in everything you do. If you want people to buy your products, then first offer something of value in terms of information. How does your product benefit people? Create a quick article or short report which discusses a common issue that your product can help relieve. Give that information away and you will eventually have people contacting you for more information.

You can repeat this process over and over. One of my favorite ways to utilize this method is through the use of an autoresponder (affiliate link.) I use the free information I am giving away to entice people to sign up to my newsletter. I then have their permission to contact them with more information about me and my business.
